Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro now compatible with Adobe RAW

Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have gained Adobe RAW support, enhancing the photography experience for users seeking advanced editing options. This update follows the recent addition of HDR output support for Adobe Lightroom on Android.

Capturing images in RAW format provides more data, allowing greater flexibility in fine-tuning. While the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro can shoot in RAW, it is generally necessary only for significant image editing.

Adobe Camera RAW Support for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro

Adobe’s inclusion of RAW support for the Pixel 8 series expands editing possibilities beyond the capabilities of the Google Photos app. This development makes high-quality photography on the Pixel 8 more accessible to users.

With RAW compatibility, Lightroom and Photoshop now recognize Pixel 8 RAW files, delivered in DNG format. This support extends to the front-facing camera, wide-angle lens, and main sensor on the Pixel 8.

Additionally, the Pixel 8 Pro avails RAW support for images captured with the telephoto lens, each with its distinct RAW profile.

Availability and Requirements

To leverage Adobe RAW support for Pixel 8, users need a minimum plug-in version of 16.0.1. Ensure that your Adobe apps (Lightroom and Photoshop) are updated to the latest version for seamless compatibility.
