YouTube Premium introduces Playables, enabling in-app gaming

YouTube Premium introduces Playables, enabling users to play games directly on the platform without the need for separate downloads. This feature, integrated by Google this week, prompts Premium members to activate it, accessible in the Explore tab.

The Playables section offers a variety of game genres, including puzzles, racing, and arcade games. Within Playables, users find Home and Browse tabs. The Home tab displays previous games and popular titles, usually featuring six games.

The Browse tab presents around 37 titles, enabling instant play without downloads. Notable games include Angry Birds Showdown, Brain Out, Daily Solitaire, and 8 Ball Billiards Classic. In India, 25 new games have been added, including Brain Out, Carrom Clash, and Angry Birds Showdown.

According to YouTube Premium’s benefits page, Playables will be available until March 28, 2024. Users can explore and enjoy this feature for free, providing feedback to determine its future status on Android, iOS, and Desktop Web.

Google is following in the footsteps of Netflix, enhancing its subscription bundle by introducing games. This move is anticipated to increase the platform’s value, with the feature likely to gain popularity. The availability of these simple games directly within the YouTube app eliminates the need for a separate installation, making it more appealing to users.
