After confirming its 10th anniversary event on December 4th, OnePlus has confirmed that the company’s flagship OnePlus 12 smartphone will be introduced in China on December 5th.
The company has also revealed the design of the phone officially that shows a centre punch-hole screen and three colours – black, white and green with patterns on the green colour. There is ‘H’ branding for Hasselblad, and the flash it located outside the camera ring, as revealed in the renders.
The Alert Slider is now present on the left-hand side of the phone, which allows OnePlus to introduce a new integrated antenna and the Alert Slider solution on the new device to deliver an enhanced antenna performance for gaming, said the company.
Regarding the change, OnePlus said:
Based on internal testing, it has been determined that the optimal position for gaming antennas is between the forefingers of the user when the phone is held in landscape orientation. However, the space is currently occupied by the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 11. By relocating the Alert Slider to the opposite side of the phone, better gaming antennas can be deployed on the OnePlus 12.
The repositioning of the Alert Slider presents a challenge in ensuring optimal antenna signal strength on the same side of the phone. To tackle this issue, OnePlus utilizes Ultra-compact Full-band Antenna technology and industry-first Alert Slider Antenna Integration technology to minimize the space occupied by the Alert Slider to the greatest extent possible. As a result, a balance between better antenna signal performance and the presence of the Alert Slider is achieved on the OnePlus 12. According to the lab test data by OnePlus, the gaming antenna signal can be improved by 3dB, with the game latency reduced by 15%.
It comes in Flowy Emerald colorway inspired from the wonders of the natural world. The ever-changing and fluid pattern of the braided rivers served as the wellspring of inspiration for the OnePlus 12 design, it added.
The phone uses the latest AG technology to imprint it onto the glass surface of the device. The result was a meticulously crafted texture, perfectly replicating the interwoven strands and breathing vibrant life into the device, seamlessly harmonizing with its cutting-edge technology, said OnePlus.
OnePlus recently confirmed Sony LYT-808 sensor for the phone, and also confirmed that the phone will feature a 1/2-inch 64MP OV64B periscope telephoto lens with an equivalent focal length of 70mm, support for 3x optical zoom.
The comany has also confirmed 2K “X1 (Oriental) Screen” from BOE with up to 2600 nits brightness, and OPPO’s first-generation self-developed image quality engine Display P1 chip.
It will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Earlier rumours revealed up to 24GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and a 5400mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging as well as 50W wireless fast charging.
OnePlus is expected to introduce the OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Watch 2 and more alongside. The company has also started teasing the OnePlus 12 globally, and is expected to launch outside China in January 2024.
