Nothing Phone (2) Nothing OS 2.5 Android 14 stable released


After beta roll out, Nothing has announced the stable rollout of Nothing OS 2.5 for its Phone 2 users. This update transitions you to Nothing OS 2.5, powered by Android 14—our most significant update since the launch of OS 2.0, said the company.

The update brings lots of customization features, adds new widgets and gestures, and improves the Glyph interface, adding more convenience to its users. As confirmed earlier by the company, the widget updates will hereafter be carried out via the Play Store.

Hence, it’s recommended to update your Nothing Launcher and Nothing Widgets apps to the latest versions available on the Play Store.

For the Nothing OS 2.5 beta users, it is a 210MB update, and for others it should be bigger.

Key changes in Nothing OS 2.5
Glyph Interface 

● Glyph Progress integration for Google Calendar – keep track of your upcoming events with a 5-minute countdown.
●Glyph Timer now supports time presets, allowing you to quickly set your desired duration
● Glyph Timer can now be opened directly from the lock screen without unlocking
● Added an option to open the Glyph Timer popup window by tapping instead of holding to accommodate for the Quick Settings widget.
● Added a new Glyph animation when NFC is used.
● Improvements to the experience of Flip to Glyph.

● New Pedometer widget with fun animation progress, and step tracking
● Screentime widget
● New media widget for navigating podcasts and music from the media sources.

Customisation

● Redesign to a joint Home Screen and Lock Screen customization page and improvements on the edit wallpaper flow for a more comprehensive view of options.
●New Atmosphere Wallpaper Effect: Transform your background photo into a dynamic wallpaper that brings motion to colors on your home screen. seamless transition between your lock and home screens.
●  New glass wallpaper effect: Add a glass filter to give your favorite wallpaper a unique appearance.
● Introduction of solid-color wallpapers for a cleaner home screen appearance.
●Addition of a monochrome color theme in the basic color section.

Gesture

● Customisable double-press power button to quickly access a chosen feature. Just head to Settings > System > Gestures.
● More Lock Screen shortcut options like Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
● Capture screenshots quickly with a three-finger swipe gesture.
● New screenshot editor and menu, allowing for more advanced editing features and quick deletions.

More improvements

● Optimised the experience of the Weather app and improved the notification of weather alerts.
● Refreshed the back gesture arrow visual to be more in line with Nothing’s style.
● Made it possible to set ringtone and notification sound volumes separately, with an updated volume control interface.
● Updated Quick Settings layout and support to show more device icons.
●Improved the stability of the camera.
● Enhanced overall system stability for a more reliable and smooth experience.

Rob, Nothing’s community admin, has confirmed that Phone (1) users will be receiving the open beta rollout very soon. We should get more information on the matter in the coming weeks.
