HUAWEI just announced its nova 12 series. The selfie-focused series comes in 3 different models – the nova 12, nova 12 Pro, and nova 12 Ultra. The nova 12 features a 6.7″ FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, while the Pro and Ultra model has a 6.7″ 1-120 Hz LTPO OLED panel with 2160 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming support.
To distinguish the Ultra model, HUAWEI has an integrated plain leather embossing design for its back, featuring the ‘nova’ logo everywhere. Other models come with a glass back design with a cherry blossom pattern embedded in it.
The smartphones feature the company’s own da Vinci portrait engine that helps in shooting high-definition selfies in 3 distinct modes – native, texture, and finish. Further, the Pro and Ultra models come with dual front-facing cameras housing a 60MP ultra-wide-angle camera with auto-focus and an 8MP portrait close-up camera.
As with other recent HUAWEI phone launches, the company hasn’t mentioned the SoC of the smartphones officially. But the nova 12, nova 12 Pro, and nova 12 Ultra models are reported to feature Snapdragon 778G 4G SoC, Kirin 8000, and Kirin 9000SL (down clocked Kirin 9000s) chipsets.
Other highlights of the series include the use of a 50MP physical variable aperture camera (f/1.4~f/4.0 aperture) with an RYYB super-sensitive filter array as the main lens, Harmony OS 4.0, up to 1TB of storage, two-way satellite communication, and 100W wired fast charging support.
