LG has announced its latest smart home innovation – Smart Home AI Agent ahead of CES 2024. This innovative agent combines robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies that enable it to move, learn, comprehend, and engage in complex conversations.
LG is marketing this as an ‘all-around home manager and companion’ which complies with LG’s “Zero Labor Home” vision. The LG robot is powered by Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform and has a built-in camera, speaker, and various sensors to gather real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality.
The two-legged wheel design enables the AI agent to navigate the home independently. The intelligent device can verbally interact with users and express emotions through movements made possible by its articulated leg joints.
Furthermore, the implementation of multi-modal AI technology, integrating voice and image recognition alongside natural language processing, empowers the intelligent home AI agent to grasp context and intentions while actively engaging in communication with users.
What can LG Smart Home AI Agent do?
The Smart Home AI Agent offers various functionalities including:
- Connects with and controls smart home appliances and household IoT devices.
- It can even act as a pet monitor and security guard, providing users with the ability to see and care for their pets remotely and sending alerts if any unusual activity is detected.
- It can autonomously patrol the home when no one is there and send notifications to the user’s smartphone.
- It helps in conserving energy by connecting with a smart outlet and turning off unused devices throughout the house.
- It greets users at the front door, discerns their emotions by analyzing their voice and facial expressions, and selects music or other content to suit their mood.
- It analyses transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, or reminders to take medications for users.
