Bharat GPT to rival ChatGPT and Jio OS for TVs in works: Akash Ambani

Reliance Jio has confirmed its association with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) for the Bharat GPT programme. He also announced the plans to launch Jio’s own OS for televisions.

Yesterday, IIT-B initiated Techfest, Asia’s Largest Science and Technology Festival on campus. Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, addressed the gathering and made several announcements.

Bharat GPT’s large language model, as the name suggests, will be tailored to cater to Indian needs. Jio expects AI to transform every area of its products and services. Ambani further added that Jio would launch AI-based products and services in the media space, commerce, communication, and also devices.

We have been working on a project with IIT Bombay to launch a Bharat GPT programme.

We are working very hard to launch AI not only as a vertical inside our organization, but also horizontally across all our sectors.

We can also expect Jio to release a new TV OS soon. As of now, the market is dominated by the Android TV OS, and it’s unsure whether Jio OS will be a proprietary OS or will use AOSP to build its OS on top of it.

Ambani is confident about India’s market and AI growth. He believes India is the “biggest innovation center” for the next ten years and is optimistic that it will become a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.
