Xiaomi just announced the SU7 series, the company’s first electric cars at an event in China, after rumours. These come in SU7 and SU7 Max models, both with Xiaomi HyperEngine V6/V6s motors with 21000 rpm, and the company says that HyperEngine V8s that is in mass production offers 27200rpm and will be ready for 2025. It is also working on a 35000rpm motor with carbon-sleeved rotor for the future.
These run Xiaomi HyperOS, and the interior comes in Galaxy Gray, Twilight Red, and Obsidian Black. It uses a 16.1-inch large touch screen, a 56-inch HUD, a 7.1-inch flip instrument screen. It also has system intelligent integration, and the central control screen supports keyboard expansion. It is also equipped with sports-style seats and a traditional D-shaped steering wheel.
The Xiaomi automobile design team comes from well-known car manufacturers around the world, including top brands such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW. The proportions of the body have been carefully considered to pursue a sports car-like appearance.
Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with water drop-shaped headlights, 2.48m halo-shaped tail lights, 175° ripple curved surface, G4 continuous curvature of the entire car outline, semi-hidden door handles, pebbled frameless water drop rearview mirror, pebble-shaped lidar.
There are 8 sets of air ducts and 17 air outlets at the top and bottom. The electric rear wing can provide 130 kilograms of downforce when traveling at the highest speed, ultimately showing the lowest drag coefficient of a car in the world – Cd 0.195.
Xiaomi SU7 adopts a “people-centered cockpit”. The wrap-around cockpit includes 5.35m² of vehicle glass area, industry-leading canopy, front windshield and sun protection, and dynamic ambient lighting. The entire vehicle is equipped with 25 speakers, 7.1.4-channel, Dolby Atmos, and even headrest has speakers.
In terms of space, the vertical space in the front row of Xiaomi SU7 reaches 1012mm, and people with a height of 1.88 meters can also have sufficient headroom. The rear space exceeds that of Tesla Model S and BMW 5 Series, the front luggage space is 105 liters (the largest in the domestic market), and the trunk is 517 liters.
The SUV7 can do 0 to 100kmph in 5.28 seconds, has 73.6-degree iron lithium battery, 668km battery life, and 400V platform. It has single Orin chip, and is powered by Qualcomm 8295.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max is equipped with a 101Kwh CATL Integrated Battery Technology that seamlessly integrates the battery pack into the vehicle structure. It enhances the overall vehicle strength and maximizes passenger cabin room, says the company.
The SU7 Max promises up to 800km range. It also supports super fast charging, which can achieve 220km in 5 minutes and 510km in 15 minutes. This can do 0 to 100kmph in 2.78 seconds, has 101-degree ternary lithium Kirin battery, has dual Orin chips, lidar, Qualcomm 8295, air suspension + CDC, electric tail wing, 56-inch HUD, 25 speaker sound system, and electric suction doors.
In terms of safety, Xiaomi SU7 uses an armored steel-aluminum hybrid body with a strength of 2000MPa, has the highest vehicle torsional stiffness of 51000 N·m/deg in mass-produced cars, and provides 7 airbags.
The Xiaomi SU7 series come in Aqua Blue, Mineral Gray and Verdant Green. The company did not reveal the pricing or the sale date yet, but promised that it will roll out in China in 2024.
