Samsung Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy Tab Active5 announced

Samsung has introduced Galaxy XCover7 as the successor to XCover6 Pro, and the Galaxy Tab Active5, successor to Tab Active4 Pro that were introduced back in 2022. Both these have MIL-STD-810H3 military standard, the Galaxy XCover7 is designed to be shock-resistant to drops of up to 1.5m, while the Galaxy Tab Active5 can withstand a 1.8m drop when using the bundled protective case.

The Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy Tab Active5 feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ and Corning Gorilla Glass 5, respectively. The device displays also allow for adjustments to touch sensitivity, making them easy to use for workers wearing gloves.

They have also been extensively tested for use with sanitizers. With these specifications, Samsung Galaxy’s ruggedized devices are built to withstand severe weather or similar hazards, making them ideal for a wide variety of frontline workers, said the company.

The XCover7 gets a similar screen, and battery, but the Snapdragon 778G is replaced by Dimensity 6100+ and now there is only a single camera and the front camera is down to 5MP.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 gets a smaller 8-inch compared to the Active4 Pro model, and the Snapdragon 778G is replaced by Exynos 1380 SoC. It still has an integrated S Pen that is also IP68 rated dustproof and water-resistant.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover7 is priced at 359 Euros (USD 392 / Rs. 32,580 approx.) and Galaxy Tab Active5 starts at 579 Euros (USD 633 / Rs. 52,552 approx.). These devices will roll out starting from today, January 10th.
