Samsung introduced the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 series, and the details about the upcoming Exynos 2500 SoC has surfaced. According to leaker Connor, the 2500 will also be a deca-core chip, and will use 3.3GHz~3.2GHz Cortex X5 Prime Core.
This is said to replace the 2 x ARM A720 CPUs and 3 x ARM A720 CPUs with A730 CPUs clocked at up to 2.5GHz~2.3GHz, and the 4x ARM A520 CPUs are said to be retained, however the clock speed is unknown.
These are test frequencies, so this might increase during the final stages, similar to the Exynos 2400. Depending on what Samsung ultimately decides, there could end up being only a tiny 100MHz boost, or even no difference at all.
Based on earlier rumours, the Exynos 2500 chip is expected to use the company’s most advanced 3nm GAA process, which has not yet been used in any smartphone or tablet chips. The Exynos 2400 uses the 4LPP+ process, which is still inferior in performance and area compared to the TSMC’s N4Pprocess used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Exynos 2400 is the first Exynos processor to use a Fan-out Wafer Level Package (FOWLP) to boost thermal management, and this is clearly visible in the early thermal test comparison between the Exynos 2400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
