OnePlus launched the OnePlus 12, the company’s latest flagship smartphone, in India today as the successor to last year’s OnePlus 11. It has upgrades in all the areas starting from the display, SoC, camera, battery and more. Here are our first impressions.

The phone has a 6.82-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen which a centre punch-hole. Since it has up to 1600 nits typical brightness and up to 4500 nits peak brightness, the screen is bright even outdoors, and the 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut offers vibrant colours. It has 1-120Hz LTPO panel and also has 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming that kicks in low brightness.
It replaces the already good Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The phone has up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. It has Pixelworks X7 Independent Visual Processor along with the company’s IRX gaming experience for 120fps gaming. The phone has Cryo-velocity cooling system with 9140mm² VC heat dissipation area that includes a 3,686mm² small VC + 5,454mm² large VC.
The phone runs Android 14 with OxygenOS 14, and the company has promised 4 Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
Inside the tiny punch-hole, there is a 32-megapixel camera, and for the first time there is 4K video recording for the front camera. The earpiece grill is present on the top edge, which doubles up as a secondary speaker.
It has minimal bottom bezel. The phone features an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is still optical.
Coming to the button placements and ports, the power button is present on the right side along with the volume rockers. The phone still retains the three-stage alert slide, but the company has repositioned it to the left-hand side of the phone, promising an enhanced antenna performance for gaming.
The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top, along with a speaker vent, and it also has an IR blaster.

It supports up to 8K 24fps video recording from the rear camera, and the front camera supports 4K 30 fps recording. You also get Dolby Vision HDR video recording and portrait video recording at 1080p.
The Flowy Emerald colorway that we have as emerald green glass technology, and patterns are inspired from the braided channels of Dart River, and the black has a matte finish that has silk glass craftsmanship. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 Protection on the back and has AG glass finish which is smooth, but is not slippery.
The phone packs a 5400mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC wired fast charging that can charge up to 100% in 26 minutes. The wireless charging is back, and the 50W wireless flash charging offers 100% charge in 55 minutes.
The OnePlus 12 starts at Rs. 64,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model and is available to pre-order from Amazon.in, OnePlus online store and OnePlus experience stores offline and will go on sale from January 30th.
