Bharat 5G Portal for Quantum, 6G research and more launched

Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman of the Digital Communications Commission and Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) at the Ministry of Communications, launched the “Bharat 5G Portal – an integrated platform” at the Bharat Telecom 2024 – An Exclusive International Business Expo.

The event was hosted by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) in collaboration with DoT.

DoT’s Call for 6G R&D Proposals

As part of its initiatives, the DoT opened the integrated portal for 6G research and development proposals.

The Secretary also inaugurated the Future Tech-Experts registration portal in collaboration with PANIIT USA, a significant move to guide and support the Indian Telecom ecosystem. This initiative will be highlighted on the Bharat 5G Portal.

Bharat 5G Portal – An All-Inclusive Platform

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharat 5G Portal features 100 “5G Use Case Labs” connected through a dedicated digital network.

This platform, implemented by Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), serves startups, industry, and academia in quantum, 6G, IPR, and 5G domains. It aims to advance India’s telecom capabilities by fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.

Bridging Dreams and Funding for Startups

Secretary (T) launched a session linking venture capital/investors to startups. This event showcased innovative products from 26 startups/MSMEs, seeking funding.

Over 10 venture capitalists/investors engaged in discussions with startups, emphasizing collaboration and growth opportunities. Dr. Mittal expressed India’s attractiveness for collaboration in technology, highlighting the nation’s vast startup ecosystem.

He emphasized the need to create business opportunities for Indian manufacturers, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India a hub for technological innovation.

In his address following the introduction of the Bharat 5G Portal, Dr. Neeraj Mittal remarked,

India’s swift 5G deployment stands out globally, and now, discussions on 6G are already underway.” He further noted that India possesses the world’s second-largest telecom network and has astounded the global community with the rapid development of Indigenous 4G/5G technologies.
