Microsoft Flight Simulator has unveiled its latest update, the Dune Expansion, coinciding with the upcoming release of Dune: Part Two on March 1.
This expansion marks the second time the game has been inspired by a Hollywood film, following the Top Gun: Maverick expansion in 2022.
Explore Arrakis in the Dune Expansion
With the Dune Expansion, players can now pilot the Royal Atreides Ornithopter from the Dune movies across the deserts and canyons of Arrakis.
The expansion features three tutorial missions and six activities, including time trials and a rescue mission amidst a looming sandstorm. This venture into Arrakis also represents the first time Microsoft Flight Simulator ventures into a fictional world.
Unique Xbox Series S and Floating Controller
A special edition Xbox Series S console holder resembling the Ornithopter captures the essence of Arrakis with its vibrant colors. This collector’s item is a treat for fans.
Additionally, the expansion introduces the world’s first floating Xbox Controller, designed to mimic the Ornithopter’s flight over sand dunes.
In addition, fans can participate in a giveaway by following Xbox on X and retweeting the official sweepstakes tweet until March 25, 2024.
Ornithopter Gaming Simulators
To further immerse fans, Xbox will set up two life-size Royal Atreides Ornithopter gaming simulators at the Microsoft Experience Centers in London and New York.
Visitors can experience flying in the Ornithopter through the Dune Expansion pack and explore the custom hardware on display for a limited time.
Availability
The Dune Expansion update for Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for download, free for all owners of the game, including Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers.
