Nothing today confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2a) will feature MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC, which has been co-engineered with MediaTek to deliver the best performance with optimal power consumption.
It still offers up to 2.8 GHz clock speed, but the company says that it has worked with MediaTek better software and hardware integration for improved power efficiency for the display IC and the modem which is 10% more power efficient compared to the standard Dimensity 7200, says Raymond Zhu, Product Marketing Manager at Nothing.
The phone has up to 12GB of RAM and the Booster technology offers an additional 8GB of additional virtual RAM. The Dimensity 7200 is 18% more powerful than Nothing Phone (1) and 16% more efficient in terms of battery consumption compared to Phone (1) which uses the Snapdragon 778G SoC, says the company.
Nothing considered Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 782G SoC for the Phone (2a), but this offers better performance, and has better power efficiency, said the company.
Zhu also said that the software team has designed a new Smart Clean technology, enabling Phone (2a) to regularly (one or two days a week) clean out-of-order file fragments – an optimisation that boosts read and write speeds. This ensures that Phone (2a) feels as fast as it did on day one, even after years of use, says the company.
This also has adaptive NTFS technology for fast transfer speeds compared to other phones when transferring files between Windows and the Nothing Phone (2a).
