HUAWEI Pocket 2 with 6.94″ 120Hz foldable OLED screen, 1.15″ external screen, 2-way satellite messaging announced

HUAWEI introduced its newest foldable phone, the HUAWEI Pocket 2, in China. It follows the same design style as the previous model, weighing 199g with a thickness of 7.35mm.

The screen is now larger at 6.94 inches with a high resolution of 2690×1136 pixels and has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, along with a 1.15-inch external screen.

The OLED screen ensures bright display quality with a maximum brightness of 2200 nits. The phone also features a 1440Hz high-frequency dimming system and a 300Hz touch sampling rate for improved visual comfort.

The Pocket 2 comes with a Xuanwu water drop hinge that enhances its flatness by 62% and a double-arm lever gear that increases support force by 41%. Its design increases screen space by 400% and boosts drop resistance by 112%, according to the company.

The phone retains the clamshell folding design with a horizontal hinge, while the back houses dual circular modules for cameras and a round cover display. The hinge is built with aerospace-grade materials and 2nd gen Kulun glass for durability, and it’s water-resistant with an IPX8 rating.

The Pocket 2 boasts four cameras on its cover, including a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle macro lens, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 2MP hyperspectral camera along with a UV sensor for color accuracy and UV detection, while there’s a 10.7MP camera on the front.

Powered by the Kirin 9000S chip with 12GB of RAM, it offers storage options from 256GB to 1TB. The phone incorporates an ultra-cooling three-dimensional heat dissipation system and runs on HarmonyOS 4.

The external small screen supports always-on display and customizable UI for various functionalities, including notifications and smart payments via QR code.

Additionally, the Pocket 2 supports two-way satellite messaging through Beidou and features air control and hardware-level privacy protection.
