Nothing Phone (2a) Nothing OS Software Update Tracker [Update: Nothing OS 2.5.6 with Hide Navigation Bar, camera HDR improvements and more]

Nothing launched the Nothing Phone (2) in March 2024 in the Indian market. The Nothing Phone (2a) runs Nothing OS 2.5 out of the box, which is based on Android 14.

The company has also promised three Android version upgrades and four year of (bi-monthly) security patch updates for the Phone (21), same as the Phone (1) and Phone (2).

Nothing has released Nothing OS 2.5.6 update that brings option to Hide Navigation Bar, better HDR in camera, Improvements and bug fixes.

New features

● Added “Hide Navigation Bar” feature for more immersive user experience. You can find this feature via “Settings > System > Gestures > Navigation mode > Gesture navigation settings > Hide navigation bar”.
● Long-pressing a widget now brings up more options, making it more consistent with other home screen operations.
● Added an option to allow or disable vibrations for other calls and notifications during a call.

Improvements
● Updated Google security patch to May 2024.
● Optimised camera auto HDR detection logic.

Bug fixes
● Fixed certain compatibility issues with Android Auto.
● Fixed the issue where the screen does not automatically turn on after using the Power Button to turn it off during an incoming call.

Nothing has released Nothing OS 2.5.5a update that brings ChatGPT integration, camera improvements, and general improvements.

ChatGPT integration
The following features are available with the latest ChatGPT app. Download via the Play Store.

● New gesture option in the Nothing X app for starting a voice conversation with ChatGPT. Works via Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a). Coming soon to other Nothing audio products.
● Added new ChatGPT widgets for fast and easy access from your home screen.
● Added a button on the screenshot and clipboard pop-up to directly paste content to a new conversation in ChatGPT.

Camera
● Optimised colour consistency in the main wide-angle camera by adjusting the white balance and colour bias at lower temperatures.

Resolved abnormal noise issues in portrait mode by optimising HDR composition strategies.
