After renders that surfaced last year, more details about the Pixel 8a has surfaced ahead of the Google I/O in May. This reveals that it will get a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1400 nits peak brightness to match the Pixel 8, which is a 40% increase.
The Pixel 8a is said to retain the same camera setup as the Pixel 7a, including a 64MP rear camera, OIS along with a 13MP ultra-wide secondary camera, and an 13-megapixel camera on the front with 4K video recording on the front and rear.
Even though the Pixel 8a is expected to get the Google Tensor G3 SoC with support for 5G SA/NSA and come with Titan M2 Security chip from the Pixel 8 series, it is said to use Samsung’s IPoP (Integrated Package on Package) instead of FOPLP (Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging) from the Pixel 8’s G3 to cut the cost, the same as what it did for the Pixel 7a. This is mainly to cut the cost.
We can expect in-display fingerprint scanner and IP67 ratings and wireless charging, but the battery details are not available yet.
