motorola already confirmed the edge 50 Pro smartphone name and some specifications of the phone, but it didn’t confirm the SoC of the phone. Now the phone has showed up on Geekbench listing confirming the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC for the phone. It also reveals 12GB of RAM and Android 14 for the phone.
motorola edge 50 Pro with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 (4nm) Mobile Platform with Adreno 720 GPU which was introduced last year has Kryo CPUs that includes 1 x 2.63 GHz ARM Cortex-A715 prime core, 3 x A715 performance cores at up to 2.4 GHz, and 4 x Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at up to 1.8 GHz.
This show Geekbench 6 single-core scores of 1097 and multi-core score of 3114. This is better than the MediaTek Dimensity 7200, but the Dimensity 8200 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 offer better performance.
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 that will launch on April 1st, a few days before the motorola edge 50 Pro, will use the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip. In contrast, the moto X50 Ultra for China that will be introduced in April will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.
It looks like motorola will launch only one phone, which is the edge 50 Pro, at the event since there is no sign of edge 50 fusion. The cheaper fusion model is rumoured to be powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.
The move to opt for Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 instead of a flagship chip should cut the cost of the phone. The motorola edge 30 ultra, which was launched in India back in 2022 powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC was priced at Rs. 54,999 as an introductory price and the original price was Rs. 59,999 for the single 8GB + 128GB model.
The edge 50 Pro should be a lot cheaper than that, but it is not clear if we can expect an edge 50 ultra model for the global market, like the moto X50 Ultra with 8s Gen 3.
motorola has already confirmed 6.7″ 1.5K 144Hz curved pOLED display with up to 2000 nits peak brightness, support for HDR 10+ and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
It will pack 50MP rear camera, 13MP ultra-wide camera with macro option, 10MP telephoto camera with 50x hybrid zoom and pack camera features such as AI adaptive stabilization, autofocus tracking, AI photo enhancement engine and tilt mode. This is also the world’s first pantone validated camera that captures true colors as they are meant to be, says the company.
We should get official confirmation regarding the chip and the battery in the coming days.
