Samsung Galaxy S II is already available in most of the European and Asian countries from the last 3 months, but the customers in the US were left behind. This handset was announced and showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 in Barcelona. After waiting for almost 3 months, Samsung finally went ahead and launched the much-awaited Galaxy S II in the US. This handset is available in 3 variants exclusively for the AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint customers.
The AT&T and T-Mobile’s version of the Galaxy S II is simply called as the AT&T Galaxy S II and T-Mobile Galaxy S II respectively. But, the Sprint version of the handset is named as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch. There are minor changes in the design of the device, but all the 3 variants share common features such as the 1.2 Ghz dual core processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System, 8 megapixel camera with full HD (1080p) video recording and much more.
“The unveiling of the Galaxy S II is a landmark achievement for Samsung, our carrier customers and consumers,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile. “Five million Galaxy S II smartphones have been sold around the world and that number increases every day. We believe the cutting-edge design, features and user experience of this innovative device will share the same level of success in the U.S.”
