Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 6 Gen 2 and 4 Gen 3 surface

Qualcomm is working on new mid-range processors, as reported by Android Headlines, following its recent introduction of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. These upcoming processors, codenamed “Volcano” and “Pitti,” aim to widen Qualcomm’s customer base.

Qualcomm’s upcoming three new mid-range SoCs

A total of three different SOCs are in the works, including model numbers SM4635, SM6650, and SM7635. The SM4635, codenamed “Pitti,” is speculated to be the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3.

The SM7635, codenamed “Volcano,” succeeds the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, promising enhanced performance, though detailed specifications are not yet available.

Additionally, SM6650, the next Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 version, is also under development, sharing similarities with SM7635. Both are codenamed “Volcano,” hinting at similarities with predecessors like Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and 7s Gen 2, codenamed “Parrot.”

The report speculates that brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and realme are already likely testing these SOCs. The upcoming Redmi Note 14 series could feature one of these new processors. The SM7635’s manufacturer is uncertain, but it is expected to be produced by TSMC, unlike the Samsung-manufactured 7s Gen 2.

With these processors, the company potentially targets affordable mid-range devices to increase market competition. As the launch approaches later this year, more information about these processors is expected to be revealed.
