SK hynix has developed a new mobile storage solution called Zoned UFS (ZUFS) 4.0 specifically designed to enhance the performance of on-device AI applications on smartphones and other mobile devices.
What is ZUFS 4.0?
ZUFS 4.0 is a type of NAND flash storage that optimizes data management for on-device AI. It achieves this by classifying and storing smartphone data according to its characteristics in designated zones within the storage device.
This targeted storage approach, unlike conventional UFS, improves the speed and efficiency of data access for the smartphone’s operating system and AI applications.

SK hynix will begin the mass production of ZUFS 4.0 in Q3 2024, with the aim of supplying it to various global smartphone manufacturers for integration into their next-generation on-device AI devices.
