ASUS has announced the upcoming launch of the ROG Ally X, a handheld gaming console set to debut on June 2. During the ROG Pulse stream, hosts Jake Kulinski and Whitson Gordon unveiled key details about the device.
According to Whitson Gordon, the ROG Ally X represents an intermediate step between a minor upgrade and a completely new generation. Notably, ASUS promises several improvements, including a significantly larger battery.
Key enhancements include a significantly larger battery, promising more than a 30-40% improvement over its predecessor, according to ASUS Senior Vice President Shawn Yen.
Additional upgrades highlighted by Gordon include increased system memory, upgraded storage, and a shift to a more common M.2 2280 slot for easier upgrades.
The device may also feature two USB-C ports and a relocated microSD slot to prevent overheating issues. Control improvements, including easier joystick interchangeability, and an all-black color option were also hinted.
ASUS plans to upgrade its Armoury Crate SE software to version 1.5, with a more user-friendly design, available for both the ROG Ally X and the existing ROG Ally 2023.
