AMD has just introduced the new AMD Ryzen 8000 F-Series Processors. These processors are aimed at gaming and creator performance, offering powerful capabilities for various computing needs.
AMD Ryzen 8000 F-series processors
The Ryzen 8000 F-series processors are built on AMD’s Phoenix APU silicon, manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm technology.
They feature Zen 4 execution cores but do not include integrated RDNA 3 graphics, unlike their G-series counterparts. To use the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F, you’ll need a separate graphics card.
Additionally, one of the models, the Ryzen 7 8700F, does not include the Ryzen AI NPU, while the Ryzen 5 8400F does. The Ryzen 7 8700F offers 16 TOPS of AI performance when paired with AMD Radeon 7000 series Graphics Cards, says the company.
The core and cache configurations for the Ryzen 8000 F-series remain unchanged from the G-series models. The Ryzen 7 8700F features an octa-core, 16-thread configuration with 16MB of L3 cache, while the Ryzen 5 8400F has a hexa-core, 16-thread layout with the same cache size.
The Ryzen 7 8700F operates at a base clock of 4.1 GHz with a boost clock of 5.0 GHz, while the Ryzen 5 8400F runs at a base clock of 4.2 GHz with a boost clock of 4.7 GHz. Both processors are rated at 65W and come with AMD’s Wraith Stealth CPU cooler.
Performance Comparison
Compared to Intel processors, AMD claims significant performance advantages for the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F.
- The Ryzen 7 8700F reportedly offers 12% to 24% higher gaming performance and 10% to 22% higher application performance than the Intel Core i5-14400F.
- Similarly, the Ryzen 5 8400F is said to outperform the Core i5-13400F in gaming performance by up to 14%.

Both processors are available now from major online and offline retailers, as well as system integrators, at the following prices:
- AMD Ryzen 7 8700F: USD 269 (Rs. 22,463 approx.).
- AMD Ryzen 5 8400F: USD 169 (Rs. 14,112 approx.).
