Sony Xperia Pro-C key specifications surface

Sony is reportedly planning to launch a new camera-focused smartphone for professionals. The upcoming device, expected to be named the Sony Xperia PRO-I, follows the recent releases of the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI.

Leaked information from the Insider Sony has revealed key specifications and some design details of the new Xperia PRO-I. This successor to the 2021 Xperia PRO-I might be called the Xperia Pro C. It is set to feature professional-grade camera specifications in a more compact design compared to its predecessor.

The Xperia Pro C is rumored to have a 6-inch OLED display with an anti-reflection coating, instead of the previous 6.5-inch screen. The display will have a 2K resolution, similar to the Xperia 1 VI. The flagship device will also incorporate ZEISS camera technology, continuing the trend from its predecessor.

In terms of camera capabilities, the Xperia Pro C is expected to feature a 1-inch 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 20mm focal length, and optical image stabilization. This main sensor will support RAW 12-bit and 14-bit DCG RAW shooting, and it might use an OmniVision sensor.

The phone will also likely include a 12MP secondary camera with autofocus, capable of 4K recording at 120fps, a 10-bit 420 S-LOG gamma curve, and HLG recording. Additionally, it might support 60fps RAW recording, Sony S-Cine-tone, and Creative Look. Another 12MP lens with a 20mm focal length may support 4K 60fps HDR recording, though zoom capabilities remain unknown.

Other specifications of the device are expected to include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Despite the smaller 6-inch screen, the new Xperia PRO model is expected to have a larger, 5000mAh battery and a 45W PD fast charging solution.

The launch of the Xperia Pro C is anticipated in Q4 2024.
