YouTube expands ‘Playables’ to all users, includes 75 games

YouTube has announced the global launch of Playables, bringing free, casual games to its platform after testing last year. Initially exclusive to YouTube Premium members, Playables are now available on Android, iOS, and the web.

Playables are lightweight games accessible on YouTube’s mobile apps and desktop site. Google describes them as a “fun, interactive way to experience YouTube.”

To access Playables, follow these steps:
  • On desktop: Visit YouTube.com, scroll down the left-hand menu, and click on Playables under the Explore section.
  • On mobile: Open the YouTube app, tap the compass icon in the top-left corner, scroll down, and tap on Playables.

There are over 75 games available, including “Angry Birds Showdown,” “Cut The Rope,” and “Trivia Crack.” The games span various categories like Action, Sports, Brain & Puzzle, Arcade, RPG & Strategy, Board & Card, Trivia & Word, and Simulation.

When signed in, Playables will save your game progress and track all-time best scores. You can also share games with friends. YouTube Premium members will have their current video continue playing in the background with game audio muted, while free users will hear the game audio.

Availability

Starting today, YouTube is expanding the Playables to more regions globally, with plans to increase availability to more users over the coming months.
