Google Fitbit Ace LTE kids smartwatch announced

Google’s Fitbit has launched the Ace LTE smartwatch for kids aged 7 and up. It’s designed to make exercise fun and provide peace of mind to parents through reliable calling, messaging, and location sharing.

The Ace LTE features a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Color OLED display with a protective bumper case. It’s compact, measuring 41.04 x 44.89 x 13.35 mm and weighing 28g without a band. It’s water-resistant up to 50m and boasts a 328mAh battery that lasts over 16 hours and charges fully in 70 minutes.

It offers fully immersive 3D games tailored for the device, with updates promised every few months. The watch encourages various physical activities, tracking them in the “Noodle” activity ring on the home screen.

Using a new movement algorithm developed by Google Research, the watch accurately measures kids’ physical activity while prioritizing privacy. Location and activity data are deleted after specific periods, and there are no ads or third-party apps.

The watch offers customizable creatures called “eejies,” which grow with daily activities, and includes six collectible bands, unlocking various rewards upon attachment, with new bands added regularly.

The Fitbit Ace LTE pairs with the Fitbit Ace app, allowing parents to track their child’s location, communicate, and manage settings like School Time. Future updates will include Tap to Pay functionality for kids to access pocket money securely.

Connectivity options include built-in 4G LTE (with a Fitbit Ace Pass subscription), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS/GNSS support. It’s compatible with most phones running Android 11.0 or newer or iOS 15 or newer.
