Light is back with another minimalist phone without any apps. The Light Phone III is a compact phone that retains the black & white interface on its large 3.92″ FHD+ matte OLED display.
There is also a 50MP rear camera which takes inspiration from point-and-shoot film cameras, it has a dedicated real shutter button, with center focus and a fixed focal length.
Even though it has a simple interface with limited function, the company said that it will continue to roll out more utility oriented tools with ongoing software updates that are optional and never pre-installed. It also said that it might add streaming apps like Spotify, messaging apps like WhatsApp / Signal and ride hailing apps in future software updates.
The Light Phone III has a metal frame, fingerprint scanner, flashlight, is powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, so it supports 5G, and also has NFC. There is a user-replaceable, 1800mAh battery.
Design in Brooklyn & Taiwan in collaboration with Foxconn, it is assembled by Foxconn in mainland China, near Shenzhen, said the company.

Pricing and availability
The Light Phone III is priced at USD 799 (Rs. 66,805 approx.), but you can now pre-order at a special price of USD 399 (Rs. 33,360 approx.), which is a 50% discount, till July 15th. It will ship starting from January 2025.
The company will continue selling the Light Phone II and said that it will continue getting updates.
