Samsung Shortcut Limited Edition Sneaker lets you control the phone with dance moves

This week, Samsung introduced Shortcut, a limited edition sneaker in partnership with Cheil Benelux, Elitac Wearables, Bruut Amsterdam, and sneaker designer Roel van Hoff.

This has sensors that can detect dance moves to launch different actions on the phone. When paired with a Samsung phone, when you do a certain move with your sneakers and your Samsung phone responds. For example, you can make phone calls or play music with moonwalk, said the company.

Five unique movements with the sneakers can trigger five actions. By having as many people as possible perform the dances hundreds of times, the algorithm becomes smarter and the motion recognition more accurate, according to Samsung.

The unique design of the sneakers by the popular designer Roel van Hoff is inspired by the Galaxy and the universe. It has materials that are reminiscent of meteorites and supernovae, with their own textures and colours. Every detail of the sneaker refers to Samsung’s Galaxy products.

How to get it?

The Limited Edition Sneaker is not for sale. The company says that it has created only six units, especially for its Members fan base in the Netherlands.

Fans can participate in the contest on the Samsung Members app until July 9, 2024 and the winners will be announced in the week of July 15, 2024.
