Nothing OS 3.0 with lockscreen customisation, interactive dot animations teased

Nothing OS 3.0, the company’s next big UI update, is around the corner and is expected to be revealed alongside the Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition. Ahead of the announcement, Carl Pei has posted teasers of how the major OS update will look like.

As per the image shared by Carl, it’s evident that the company is revamping the lock screen interface by adding more functionalities. One can choose from three different lock screen styles: Default, Clock+Widgets, and Expanded Widget Area.

The default one that simply shows the clock, date, and day, clock+widget style will show the clock in dotted font along with a weather widget, contact widget, and a shortcut for quick action. The expanded widget area, on the other hand, is an expanded version of the clock+widget type style with larger tiles.

He also shared some technicalities behind the upcoming interactive dot animations on the OS, which might be used on the Quick Settings panel. The new dot animation has 3 layers namely the input image layer, the live interaction layer, and the final output layer, making it interactive and aesthetically appealing.

Apart from this, the upcoming Nothing OS 3.0 is said to include a new native gallery and community app. Furthermore, the company plans to enhance the Glyph interface by introducing a new combination of hardware and improving UI uniformity for a more cohesive user experience.
