Samsung said to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC for the entire Galaxy S25 series

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series may feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset globally, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo suggests Qualcomm could exclusively supply chips for the Galaxy S25 due to Samsung’s lower yield rates with their own 3nm Exynos 2500. In 2023, the Galaxy S23 series featured Qualcomm processors globally, marking a departure from previous years.

However, last year’s Galaxy S24 series had only 40% of models equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the rest used Samsung’s Exynos 2400 in Asian markets, including Malaysia.

Despite facing challenges, Samsung continues to develop the Exynos 2500 chipset, allowing time for improvements in production yield. Marketed as a potentially strong performer, the Exynos 2500 aims to position Samsung’s Exynos lineup competitively, suggesting the company remains committed to its development efforts.

Kuo’s prediction aligns with Samsung’s cost-saving measures, such as their use of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ in the Galaxy Tab S10+ (model SM-X828U), as observed on Geekbench. This strategy matches reports that Samsung plans to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in both the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6.

This strategy contrasts with Qualcomm’s higher costs for its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, expected to be 25-30% more expensive than its predecessor. Consequently, Qualcomm and TSMC, its chip manufacturer, stand to benefit from increased orders for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

With the Galaxy S25 series scheduled to launch in approximately six months, the landscape could still change. As it stands, however, the prospect of Samsung adopting Qualcomm processors exclusively for the Galaxy S25 series appears promising.
