Qualcomm recently officially scheduled its seventh annual Snapdragon Tech Summit for this year on October 21st to 23rd, few days ahead compared to last year. The company is expected to introduce its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip with Oryon CPU.
The invite video says “The stars are aligning” along with three bright stars in a straight line in the Orion’s Belt, highlighting the Oryon CPU.
Oryon CPU was confirmed by Qualcomm’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Don McGuire, at MWC 2024. We can expect improved neural processing unit (NPU) in the SoC.
Earlier reports revealed that Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip (SM8750) with the self-developed prime core will reach clock speeds of up to 4.2GHz, the highest in a Snapdragon chip till date. The GeekBench6 scores are said to reach 3,000 points in single-core, up 35.5% and 10,000 points in multicore, up 33.9% compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
It should use TSMC’s 3nm process tech. Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are said to be the first phones to use the chip, so we can expect the phones to be introduced in China as early as October, soon after the launch of the chip.
