Google Chrome on Android and iOS gets new search tools, personalized shortcuts, and more

Google has announced several updates to Chrome on Android and iOS, enhancing mobile browsing with new features aimed at simplifying tasks and improving user experience.

More Chrome Actions for Local Places

Google has introduced new Chrome Actions designed to streamline interactions with local businesses. Users can now find shortcuts like calling a restaurant, getting directions, and reading reviews directly from search results in Chrome on Android.

This feature is currently available on Android and will come to iOS later this fall.

Redesigned Address Bar on Tablets

Chrome’s address bar has been redesigned for iPads and Android tablets to better utilize larger screens and align with Google’s Material You design language.

This update ensures that the website remains visible below the drop-down, allowing easier navigation back to the page.

New Shortcut Suggestions

Chrome now offers personalized shortcut suggestions on Android and iOS, making it easier to navigate to frequently visited websites.

These suggestions adapt based on your browsing habits, ensuring quick access to sites like City Metro when searching for terms like “schedules.”

Trending Searches on Chrome for iOS

Users on iOS can now view trending search suggestions directly in Chrome’s address bar, similar to the feature already available on Android. These trends appear below recent searches, offering inspiration and quick access to popular topics.

New Sports Cards in Discover Feed

Chrome’s Discover Feed now includes live sports cards on both iOS and Android.

This feature provides real-time updates on favorite teams during games, tailored to user interests. Users can customize their Discover Feed through the Chrome mobile app settings.

Availability

All these updates are part of Chrome version 126, currently rolling out across Android and iOS platforms.
