Google Pixel 9 series and iPhone 16 Pro series said to use same OLED display from Samsung


Samsung Display is said to supply OLED screen with ‘M14’ organic material for the Google Pixel 9 series and iPhone 16 Pro series, according to Korea’s Etnews. 

The report says that M14 is a first-of-its-kind material that will achieve the best performance in terms of brightness and lifespan. The Samsung Galaxy S24 reportedly uses OLED displays featuring M13 material, offering up to 2600 nits peak brightness.

The Google Pixel 9 series will be introduced will be introduced on August 13th, and we can expect the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold to adopt the new OLED screen first.

Similarly, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max that should be introduced in September should use the new OLED screen, but the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will use the ‘M12’ organic material as the predecessor.

We should wait for a few more months to see if the Galaxy S25 series will use the same display, since it should launch only in January 2025.
