Meta has announced that Threads now boasts over 175 million monthly active users.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, celebrated this milestone, stating, “What a year,” marking the platform’s achievement just two days shy of its first anniversary.

India stands out as one of the most engaged countries on Threads globally, reflecting Meta’s vision that everyone has valuable thoughts to share. Over the past year, Threads has evolved into a comfortable space for people in India to freely express their ideas, according to Meta.

To commemorate this occasion, Meta shared new updates and insights along with key highlights:
  • Globally, Threads has seen over 50 million topic tags created to date.
  • The top 5 emojis used on Threads globally are ❤️, 😂, ✨, 😍, and 🤣.
  • In India, popular Threads topics revolve around film, TV, OTT content, celebrity discussions, and sports.
  • Users in India frequently mention others and utilize video posts more than the global average.
Meta also highlighted the community engagement in India, focusing on:

Community Building: Threads facilitates strong community interactions through features like Topic Tags, which have generated over 50 million tags globally.

In India, popular tags include film and TV shows like #GunturKaaram and #Kalki2898AD, celebrity discussions such as #BTS11thAnniversary, and sports events like #T20WorldCup.

Cricket Craze: Cricket dominates discussions on Threads in India, with current and former players, experts, and fans actively engaging during events like the T20 Cricket World Cup and IPL. Over 200 creators shared updates during the IPL season.

Media Integration: While primarily text-based, Threads in India sees a higher usage of video and photo posts compared to the global average. The introduction of an in-app camera has boosted photography within the community.

Creators’ Space: Threads has become a hub for creators, allowing them to explore various interests and build their platforms. Creators like @tarini_shah focus on fashion, while others like @shrayraitiwari create memes, showcasing the platform’s diverse content landscape.
