Microsoft has announced upcoming changes to Xbox Game Pass, including price adjustments, a new subscription tier, and the discontinuation of Game Pass for Console.
Game Pass Updates Announced July 2024
Starting today, July 10, 2024, the following Xbox Game Pass updates are effective:
- New member prices will change for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Core, and PC Game Pass.
- Game Pass for Console is no longer available for new members.
- Existing Game Pass for Console subscribers with automatic renewal can keep their membership.
Price Changes
Effective July 10, 2024, global prices for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and 12-month Game Pass Core subscriptions will be updated:
- New subscription prices take effect immediately.
- Existing members will experience price changes on recurring charges starting September 12, 2024. Certain countries are exempt. Billing dates remain unchanged, with new prices applied from their next billing cycle after September 12, 2024.
These adjustments also affect 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month Game Pass Core subscriptions in Türkiye, South Africa, and Argentina, as well as 6-month subscriptions in India.
New Xbox Game Pass Standard Subscription
Microsoft is introducing a new Game Pass option, Xbox Game Pass Standard, in the coming months. This new option will not include day-one titles. The PC Game Pass will continue to feature day-one releases and EA Play.
The existing Xbox Game Pass for Console subscription will continue for current subscribers, but new subscribers will not be able to select the console option starting July 10, 2024, until the new Game Pass Standard subscription is available.
The new standard option will also include online console multiplayer access, which was previously unavailable with Xbox Game Pass for Console. Current Xbox Game Pass for Console subscribers can stack their subscriptions for up to 13 months from September 18, 2024, without affecting existing stacks.
New GamePass Pricing in India
- PC Game Pass (1 month) now at Rs. 449 (previously Rs. 349)
- Game Pass Ultimate (1 month) now at Rs. 829 (previously Rs. 549)
- Game Pass Core (6 months) now at Rs. 1,799 (previously Rs. 749)
- Game Pass Core (12 months) now at Rs. 3,349 (previously Rs. 1,999)
Availability
The price increase is effective today for new subscribers and on September 12, 2024, for existing subscribers. The new Xbox Game Pass Standard at USD 14.99 (Rs. 1,251 approx.) will be available in the coming months.
