Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 with 7.6″ foldable and 6.3″ outer 1-120Hz AMOLED displays, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, IP48 ratings announced

Samsung just announced the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the company’s next-generation foldable phone, at its unpacked event in Paris, as it had promised. The 7.6-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen on the inside with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate is now 48% brighter at up to 2600 nits. It still uses the 4MP Under Display Camera (UDC).

It features a slightly larger 6.3-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which now has 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 22.1:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy in the Z Fold5 is replaced by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, and Samsung said that the phone has 1.6x larger vapor chamber compared to the Fold 5. The phone has the same 50MP sensor, 12MP ultra-wide camera, and 10MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom and 30X space zoom.

Software and AI features

The phone runs Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1, and will get seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates to match the S24 series.

The phone has Galaxy AI with features such as Note Assist, PDF overlay translation feature in Notes, Circle to Search, Interpreter, Live Translate, AI-powered ProVisual Engine, Photo Assist, Portrait Studio, and more.

The dual rail hinge structure is further supported by a strengthened folding edge, better distributing the shock of external impacts. The phone is now thinner at 12.1mm when folded and just 5.6mm when unfolded. It is 14 grams lighter at just 239 grams.

There are enhanced layers on the main screen that help to improve the crease while maintaining strength, according to the company. The phone is also equipped with enhanced Armor Aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone also has IP48 ratings for dust and water resistance, compared to IPX8 ratings in the older models.
