Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced the theme of India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, “The Future is Now,” in New Delhi.
This theme highlights India’s central role in technological advancements and emphasizes the ongoing technological transformation.
Launch of IMC 2024 Application and Website
Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia also launched the IMC 2024 application and website. The app allows for interactive registration for various categories including Delegates, Visitors, Academia/Colleges, Government, and Media.
IMC 2024 will bring together global leaders, visionaries, and innovators to shape the future of technology.
Highlights of the Announcement
The Minister emphasized that the theme “Future is Now” reflects India’s achievements and future potential.
He noted the significant progress in the telecom sector over the past decade, including the transition from a consumer to a supplier of technology.
Notable interventions like The Telecom Act 2023, the PLI Scheme, and the rapid 5G rollout were highlighted. The rules for The Telecom Act 2023 will be notified within 180 days.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) announced the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023 for outstanding contributions in various telecom areas:
- Dr. Kiran Kumar Kuchi, IIT Hyderabad: For advancements in telecom technology and mentorship.
- Elena Geo Systems Private Limited: For NavIC-based devices and applications.
- Astrome Technologies Private Limited: For millimeter-wave multi-beam technology.
- Tejas Networks Limited: For telecom innovations and equipment manufacturing.
- Nivetti Systems Private Limited: For secure networking products.
New Initiatives and Agreements
The Minister also introduced the Testing Scheme for Start-ups & MSMEs and oversaw a MoU signing between NTIPRIT and IIT Jammu to enhance cybersecurity capacity.
Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman of DCC & Secretary (T), DoT, highlighted India’s achievements in the 5G sector, and Shri Abhijit Kishore, Chairman of COAI, addressed the gathering.
IMC 2024 Details
The eighth edition of IMC will take place from October 15 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It will feature innovative solutions, services, and use cases in technology, and facilitate over 500 meetings with more than 1000 potential investors and partners.
Concurrently, New Delhi will host the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA 2024) and the Global Standards Symposium (GSS 2024) from October 14-24, 2024.
