McAfee and Samsung mark 10 years with expanded AI online protection for Galaxy devices

McAfee has announced an extension of its ten-year partnership with Samsung to enhance protection against online threats to users’ privacy, identity, and personal information.

McAfee Security app in Samsung Galaxy Store

Samsung’s Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy Z Fold6, now come with the Galaxy Store pre-installed. Users can download the McAfee Security app from this store.

The app features McAfee Scam Protection, which uses AI to detect and alert users to dangerous URLs in text messages. It also blocks risky sites if users click on scam links in texts, emails, social media posts, and other sources.

McAfee noted that McAfee Security can be purchased in 98 markets via the Galaxy Store and installed on Samsung devices to provide continuous protection, addressing the increased difficulty in spotting online scams due to AI advancements.

According to McAfee’s Mobile Threat Survey (February 2024), 50% of mobile phone users find AI makes it harder to spot scams, while 39% have clicked on suspicious text messages. The survey included 4,032 adults from the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, India, and Japan.

McAfee emphasized that 90% of people globally are concerned about online privacy and identity on mobile phones, and the latest Galaxy devices address this with Advanced Intelligence settings that allow users to control data usage for AI by disabling online data processing.

McAfee Security with Scam Protection is available at a special price for Samsung Galaxy devices through the pre-installed Galaxy Store app.
