Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 with updated design, new color options surface

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 could join the launch event next month, along with the Pixel 9 series. This is suggested by a Reddit user (u/Living_Series8400) who found images of a Spigen case for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 while searching for a Pixel Buds case.

The case’s mention of compatibility with both generations of Pixel Buds Pro suggests a new version is coming.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will retain the same egg-shaped charging case but feature updated earbuds with larger, color-matched grills, a larger microphone cover, and a slightly larger colored housing.

The charging case design and size remain mostly unchanged, fitting both the original and new earbuds. A new cut-out near the USB-C port on the charging case suggests an option for a wrist strap or a speaker for Google’s Find My Device feature.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 could feature a slightly adjusted shape to improve fit but will not include major changes or a winged design. As previously reported by 9to5Google, the earbuds are expected in four colors: Raspberry (red), Mojito (green), Porcelain (beige), and Haze (dark gray).

Leaked images reveal a new color option, likely called “Raspberry,” which may match a similar shade for the Pixel 9 phones, indicating a coordinated look across Google’s products.

Launch date?

Since the original Pixel Buds Pro launched in July 2022, it’s anticipated that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will offer better audio quality, noise cancellation, and battery life.

Given this timeline, they are expected to be announced at the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series event on August 13, 2024.
