Qualcomm to introduce new Snapdragon X series chip at IFA 2024

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC for sub USD 100 phones at the ‘Snapdragon For India~ event yesterday, July 30th, and also launched the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus based products for the Indian market officially, announcing several partners.

At the end of the event Kedar Kondap, SVP and GM, Compute and Gaming, Qualcomm teased that there will be exciting announcements at the Qualcomm press conference at IFA 2024 event in Berlin on September 4th at 1PM.  Qualcomm is expected to introduce some new SKUs in the X Elite and X Plus category which could drive adoption from more PC OEMs across various price tiers. Currently there are broadly 4 SKUs under the compute lineup featuring the Oryon CPU, and the X1E-78-100 seems to be most popular in terms of OEM adoption.

Snapdragon X Plus was introduced earlier this year and X elite was announced last year.  Intel is also gearing up to launch its ‘Lunar Lake‘ mobile CPU at its IFA event on September 3rd to compete with Snapdragon X series. AMD Strix Point Ryzen AI 300 based products are also about to hit the market next month.

Qualcomm’s IFA 2024 event on September 4th starts at 1PM CET (4:30 PM) IST, and the company should reveal more details in the coming months.
