Intel ‘Lunar Lake’ Core Ultra Processors for AI PCs to launch on September 3


Intel has announced the launch of its next-generation Core Ultra processors, codenamed “Lunar Lake,” scheduled for September 3rd at IFA event in Berlin.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, EVP and General Manager of the Client Computing Group, and Jim Johnson, SVP and General Manager of the Client Business Group, will host the event, joined by PC manufacturers presenting their Core Ultra Lunar Lake-based machines.

Intel’s Lunar Lake processors will offer advanced microarchitecture for high performance with low power consumption.

Key upgrades include enhanced power efficiency, superior core performance, improved graphics capabilities, and notable advancements in AI computing power.

According to reports, Lunar Lake might be referred to as the ‘Core Ultra 200V,’ marking a major update to Intel’s chip architectures and design strategies.

The Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPUs will include:

  • CPU: New Lion Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores, which provide notable IPC improvements.
  • GPU: The new Xe2 architecture with advanced XMX capabilities.
  • NPU4: Delivering up to 48 TOPS, totaling 120 TOPS of AI computing power within a compact SoC.
Launch Event Schedule

Intel’s Lunar Lake Core Ultra processors will be unveiled on September 3rd at 6 p.m. CEST (9 a.m. PDT / 9:30 p.m. IST) in a livestreamed event, with a recorded replay available on Intel’s Newsroom portal.

The event will also introduce the first platforms developed with Intel’s partners, occurring just before IFA 2024 in Berlin, which begins on September 6, 2024.
