POCO today launched the M6 Plus 5G, the company’s latest smartphone in the M6 series, in India. This is the enhanced version of the M6 Pro 5G, which was launched last year. Here we have the first impressions of the phone.

The phone has a 6.79-inch Full HD+ 120Hz LCD screen with up to 550 nits peak brightness, so the sunlight legibility is decent even in bright outdoors. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
There is a slightly large bezel on the bottom, which is acceptable considering the cost. The tiny punch-hole houses a 13MP camera, compared to 8MP in the M6 Pro. On the top edge there is an earpiece grill, but this doesn’t act as a secondary speaker.
It is the one of the few phones to be powered by Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE 4nm SoC, which is the overclocked version of the e Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. It runs Android 14, and it is the first POCO device to run HyperOS out of the box. The company has promised 2 OS updates and 4 years of security updates for the phone, which rare in the phones in the price range.
Coming to the button placements, the volume rockers and the power button that houses the fingerprint scanner are present on the right side of the phone. The hybrid dual SIM slot is present on the left. The loudspeaker grill, primary microphone and USB Type-C port are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone and the IR blaster are at the top.
Since the phone has a plastic frame, you don’t see any antenna cutouts. The flat frame offers a good grip to hold and doesn’t attract fingerprints. The phone also has IP53 ratings for dust and splash resistance.
The POCO M6 Plus 5G features the 108MP rear camera with ISOCELL HM6 1/1.67 sensor. There is a secondary 2MP macro camera. Both the front and rear cameras support 1080p 30 fps video recording.
The phones feature a flat-edge design and a glass back. It packs a 5030mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging that can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes. It weighs 199 grams.
The POCO M6 Plus 5G starts at Rs.13,499 for the 6GB + 128GB model. With all the offers, the phone will be available starting at Rs. 11,999. It will be available from Flipkart starting from August 5th.
