Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 QRD surfaces in benchmarks

Qualcomm is gearing up for the launch of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship SoC in October. Now the first benchmark of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) device has surfaced.

This uses Qualcomm’s self-developed Nuvia CPU architecture, and reveals 2 x 4.09GHz + 6 x 2.78GHz cores, 12GB of RAM and Android 15 out of the box. This will use Adreno 830 GPU, and TSMC’s 3nm process.

The scores of 2884 for the Geekbench 6 Single-Core and 8840 for the multi-core is higher than the 2325 single-core and 7448 multi-core Geekbench 6 scores for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 QRD device.

According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the performance in the mass-produced retail units will be higher since earlier rumours revealed that the single-core scores will reach 3,000 points and multi-core scores will cross 10,000 points, much higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are said to be the first phones to use the chip, so we can expect the phones to be introduced in China as early as October, soon after the launch of the chip at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 that starts on October 21st.
