Google just announced the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen), the company’s latest thermostat with upgraded intelligent, energy-saving features in the US. It features a sleek, slim profile adding aesthetic appeal to the house, coupled with a domed crystal LCD screen that is 60% bigger than the previous generation.
Behind the screen, Google has added multiple layers of mirror and colored films, completely eliminating the appearance of bezels. Further, the new Dynamic Farsight lets you customize the home screen to easily view the time, temperature, weather, or outdoor air quality up close and at a glance.
The thermostat comes with a Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) in the box, allowing users to intelligently use the device. The new sensor helps users manage hot and cold spots in their home, like prioritizing the temperature in a baby’s room during their naptime.
Users can add up to six temperature sensors for maximum control and flexibility. Google has added advanced AI features that facilitate personalized, energy-saving temperature schedules by making micro-adjustments based on users’ patterns to keep them comfortable while saving both energy and money.
Additionally, there are features like a smart schedule that learns which temperatures users choose most often or changes in behavior and also analyzes the outdoor weather, which will affect the indoor temperature.
There’s also a new feature called the System Health Monitor that tracks HVAC performance over time and notifies issues or dips in performance well ahead. The Smart Ventilation feature lets the ventilation system decide whether to bring in fresh air from outside or not, depending on air quality.
Pricing and Availability
The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) comes in Polished Silver, Polished Obsidian, and Polished Gold colors, with a Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) included in the box.
It is priced at $279.99 (Rs. 23,495 approx.) in the U.S. and CA$379.99 (Rs. 23,090 approx.) in Canada. Pre-orders have already begun via the Google Store and select retailers, with wider availability starting on August 20th.
Additional Nest Temperature (2nd gen) sensors can be purchased for $39.99 (Rs. 3,355 approx.) each or $99.99 (Rs. 8,390 approx.) for a 3-pack.
