BSNL unveils 4G and 5G-ready OTA and USIM Platform

BSNL, India’s state-owned telecom operator, has introduced a new Over-the-Air (OTA) and Universal SIM (USIM) platform, developed in collaboration with Pyro Holdings, to enhance its telecom services nationwide.

This 4G and 5G compatible platform offers improved connectivity and service quality, aligning with the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

This technology allows for the remote management and provisioning of SIM cards, offering greater flexibility and efficiency for both BSNL and its customers. The platform is future-proof, supporting both existing 4G and upcoming 5G networks.

Customers can expect better network coverage and faster data speeds. The new platform will lead to a more reliable and efficient telecom service. Features like mobile number portability and SIM replacement will be made easier.

The platform was inaugurated in Chandigarh with a disaster recovery site in Trichy, ensuring uninterrupted services in case of emergencies.

Regarding this, Ravi A. Robert Jerard, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, said:

We are excited to introduce this cutting-edge platform to our subscribers. This platform will be immensely useful for customers seeking SIM replacement without geographical restrictions, aiding in modification of SIM profile and remote file management on SIM cards. Moreover, it enables SIM swaps to be performed anywhere in the country. This initiative not only enhances our network capabilities but also aligns with our mission to support the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
