Google just introduced the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, the company’s latest flagship smartphones, and also launched these in India, as it had promised. The Pixel 9 comes with a smaller 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED Actua display with 120Hz refresh rate with up to 2,700 nits peak brightness.
The Pixel 9 Pro has a slightly bigger 6.3-inch 1.5K 120Hz display, and there is a new Pixel 9 Pro XL model with a 6.7-inch 120Hz Quad HD+ screen, both with up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, up 25% compared to the predecessor.
Both the smartphones are powered by Google Tensor G4 SoC with support for 5G SA/NSA and come with Titan M2 Security chip. The Pixel 9 Pro also includes upgraded vapor chamber cooling. These still run Android 14, and will get Android and security updates for 7 years. The Pixel 9 series feature Satellite SOS in the US.
The Pixel 9 feature a polished back with satin finish metal frame, and the Pixel 9 Pro comes with silky matte back with polished finish metal frame, both with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass and back protection and feature IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Camera specs and features
The Pixel 9 and 9 Pro series feature new 50MP sensor with OIS along with a new 50MP sensor. The Pixel 9 retains the same 11 MP sensor camera from the Pixel 8, but the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL feature a 42MP autofocus front camera and also adds a 48MP telephoto camera with OIS.
There are Astrophotography, Portrait Mode, Face Unblur, Long Exposure, Action Pan, Real Tone, Panorama, Top Shot, Frequent Faces. There is also 8K video recording at 30 FPS powered by Video Boost as, up to 20x Super Res Zoom in Night Sight Video or Video Boost in the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
The new Add Me lets you take a photo of a group, then trade places with someone and take a second photo with you in it. Reimagine in Magic Editor can create anything when you just describe what you want. Auto frame in Magic Editor uses AI to generate options to better frame a photo you’ve already captured. Zoom Enhance intelligently fills in the gaps between pixels and predicts fine details for high-quality, post-capture zoom results.

The Google Pixel 9 comes is priced at Rs. 79,999 for the 256GB model in India. In the U.S. it starts from USD 799 (Rs. 67,050 approx.) for 128GB and USD 899 (Rs. 75,435 approx.) for 256GB model.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro is priced starting at Rs. 1,09,999 in India. In the U.S. it starts from USD 999 (Rs. 83,835 approx.).
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is priced starting at Rs. 1,24,999 for the 256GB model and Rs. 1,39,999 for the 512GB model in India. In the U.S. it starts from USD 1099 (Rs. 92,225 approx.).
These phones are available for pre-order from 12 noon on Flipkart as well as at over 150 Croma and Reliance Retail outlets in 15 cities across the country starting, August 14th. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available starting 22nd August, with the 9 Pro available later.
