Suchi Semicon to invest $100 million for Gujarat’s first OSAT facility

Suchi Semicon has announced a major investment of over USD 100 million to launch Gujarat’s first Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) plant by November 2024.

Gujarat’s first OSAT facility

Located in Surat, the new plant will span 30,000 square feet and is designed to produce up to 3 million chips per day. This investment aims to bolster India’s semiconductor production capabilities and address global demand by localizing semiconductor assembly and testing.

The facility will feature advanced class 10k and 100k cleanroom environments, which will help reduce supply chain lead times and lower logistical costs for companies with design operations in India. The plant is expected to create up to 1,200 jobs, supporting local economic growth.

Suchi Semicon has also signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with SVNIT and Gujarat Technological University to support skill development and cultivate a skilled workforce.

The plant will cater to industries such as consumer electronics, automobiles, telecommunications, and wearables, enhancing India’s position in the global semiconductor market.
