Instagram rolls out Creator Lab in India for aspiring creators

Instagram has announced the launch of a new educational resource called Creator Lab, targeting aspiring creators. In addition to this, Instagram has introduced several new features aimed at enhancing user engagement and creativity.

New Features on Instagram

Meta, Instagram’s parent company, has identified key trends for 2024, particularly how GenZ is shifting towards less “me-centered” content, such as photo dumps. To support this trend, Instagram has introduced several new features:

  • Creative Text Tools: New options designed to make Posts, Reels, and Stories more engaging.
  • Expanded Carousel Size: The ability to include up to 20 pieces of content in a single carousel.
  • Music in Mixed Media Carousels: An option to add music to carousels that combine photos and videos.

GenZ’s strong engagement with interactive content has also led Instagram to launch:

  • ‘Add Yours’ Music, Frames, and Reveal Stickers: Features that encourage viewers to interact, increasing overall engagement.

Understanding the crucial role of music in fostering creativity on the platform, Instagram has rolled out:

  • Music on Profile: A new feature allowing users to add music to their profiles.
  • Music in Content Notes: A feature enabling the integration of music into notes.
  • Multitrack Audio on Reels: This feature allows users to add up to 20 audio tracks to a single reel, broadening creative opportunities.
Launch of Creator Lab

Since 2019, Instagram has been committed to supporting creator education through its Born on Instagram program. Building on this foundation, Instagram is now launching Creator Lab, a new resource designed specifically for aspiring creators.

Creator Lab will feature insights from 14 creators across various regions and genres, including Aabir Vyas, Govind Kaushal, Meethika Dwivedi, Raghav Sachhar, and The Vixens Crew.

These creators will offer guidance on three essential themes:

  • Expressing Yourself: Practical tips on using Instagram’s tools and features for creative expression.
  • Building Community: Strategies for creating meaningful connections and growing a loyal following.
  • Growing Long-Term: Advice on monetizing content and establishing a sustainable career.

The content will be available in both English and Hindi, with plans to add captions in six additional Indian languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, and Hindi.

More content will be continuously added to Creator Lab. For further details, users can visit the Creator Lab website.

Speaking about the launch, Paras Sharma, Director of Global Partnerships at Meta India, said,

On Instagram, our goal is to create an experience where people can connect over shared interests. We listen closely to feedback from young users, and it greatly influences our decisions—whether it’s the features we introduce or the newly launched Creator Lab. This initiative is designed to empower creators, helping them express themselves authentically and achieve success in their own distinctive ways.
