After rumours, HUAWEI has started teasing the design of the Mate XT, which will be the first phone in the world to feature a tri-fold screen ahead of possible announcement in China on September 10th.
The teaser video doesn’t reveal the design of the screen yet, but shows the octagonal lens design, a periscope telephoto camera, and a sleek metal body. The rear design resembles the company’s Mate X5 foldable phone.
There are HUAWEI and ULTIMATE DESIGN brand logos on the back, and the back cover is made of leather.
The phone will use a screen from BOE and is expected to feature a customized three-fold screen that should open up into a tablet with a large screen.
BOE Chairman Chen Yanshun at the BOE IPC 2024 conference this week said that the HUAWEI’s tri-fold screen phone Mate XT is made possible with deep collaborations with both the companies.
HUAWEI also revealed popular actor and musician Andy Lau as the ambassador for the phone who showcased the phone in the teaser video.
