Apple has announced the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max successor of last year’s iPhone 15 Pro models along with the iPhone 16, both with Titanium design, A18 Ori chip, a larger 6.3-inch display for the Pro and the largest 6.9-inch display in iPhone for the 16 Pro Max, both with 120Hz ProMotion.
Apple A18 Pro
The Apple A18 Pro has the same 2nd-gen 3nm transistors as the A18, and features a 16-core neural engine, optimized for running large generative models, and is up to 2x faster for ML.
The 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores are up to 15% faster than A17 Pro, capable of delivering the same performance with 20% less power usage. These use larger caches, with next-generation ML accelerators, plus advanced media features with ProMotion and Always-On display support, faster USB 3 speeds, and ProRes video recording. It supports 2x data processing for video encoding. The 6-core GPU is up to 20% faster than A17 Pro.
New cameras
There is a new 48MP fusion camera with 2nd-generation quad-pixel sensor, with 0 shutter lag for 48MP ProRAW and HEIF photos. It has a 48MP ultra-wide camera, with quad-pixel sensor with autofocus with macro photography support. The 5x telephoto, with 120mm focal length, now comes to iPhone 16 Pro in addition to Pro Max.
The Camera control lets you slide between lenses. Camera Control will be updated later this year to lock focus and exposure with a half-press. The iPhone 16 Pro series now supports 4K120 capture, made possible by the faster sensor on the 48MP fusion camera. 4K120 can be used in slo-mo or video mode and can be adjusted after capture. Play back in 120, 60, 30, or 24 fps.
There is Spatial Audio capture during video recording, for a more immersive experience when using AirPods or Apple Vision Pro to watch. Audio Mix uses machine learning to identify and separate background audio and speech. “In-frame mix” isolates the voice of the person on camera. Studio mix, gives the effect of recording in a recording studio.
The iPhone 16 has battery optimizations, larger batteries, better power management, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best iPhone battery life ever, said the company.

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come in Black Titanium, brighter White Titanium, natural Titanium, and a new Desert Titanium colours in 128GB (16 Pro only), 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. It is Rs. 15,000 cheaper than the launch price of the iPhone 15 Pro series.
